THE VANCOUVER ALPEN CLUB - SUBGROUPS
Members of the Vancouver Alpen Club have founded several social subgroups such as choirs, card game and dance groups. New members are always welcome! Therefore everyone who is interested to join them can come by during their weekly get-togethers to get to know them or contact the groups via phone/email!
Alpen Plattlers
A group of enthusiastic dancers who perform the traditional style of dance ‘Schuhplattler’ from the Alpine regions of Germany and Austria. Their fun and enlightening dances have thrilled the German community and indeed all of Vancouver since 1935.
The group is always looking for new members. Prior Schuhplattler experience isn’t required.

Concordia Choir (retired)
The mixed-voice Concordia Choir was founded in 1976 and had been singing at the Vancouver Alpen Club since it began. Its members loved getting together to sing a wide repertoire of German folk music with a healthy dose of Classical selections and popular German pieces.

MGV Lyra
MGV Lyra is a four-voice all-male choir. Founded in 1965, the choir has entertained audiences in Canada, the USA and Europe. MGV Lyra has an extensive repertoire and there have been many highlights such as the “Battle Hymn”, ‘Frieden”, “Der Wanderer”, and Wagners “Chorus of the Returning Pilgrims”.

Card Games
Players come together every Wednesday to play Rummy and Skat. The Price Skat players meet additionally on the 1st Sunday of every month.
Novice players of any nationality are welcome.
